If your biking or hiking trip on the Great Allegheny Passage “GAP Trail” calls for an overnight stay, consider Buffalo Bill’s House, a private home rental (up to 8 max) with secure bike storage, a hose to rinse your bike & a washer/dryer to clean your clothes after a day on the trail. Reservations are required no less than 24-hrs in advance, but our weekends book up fast (about 4-6 weeks in advance). We are located less than a day’s ride between the Pittsburgh/Homestead and Ohiopyle/confluence trailheads. Buffalo Bill’s House is less than a half mile from the Layton trailhead mile marker 102 in Perryopolis, PA. (Please see detailed directions below.)
 
Relax on our porch swing after making yourself a coffee or tea (complimentary) and take in the stunning views of the Youghiogheny River & Laurel Mountains after a long day of biking and/or hiking. Choose a nearby family restaurant, pizzeria, or order in take-out for dinner. Our guide book offers the best breakfast, lunch & dinner selections.  We also have a fully equipped kitchen & outdoor grill. We now offer grocery runs for bicyclist/hikers, just send us your list and we’ll take care of the rest! *Please note: a service fee will be included and food will be left at the house upon your arrival. 1. Exit the Great Allegheny Passage (“GAP Trail”) at the gravel parking lot adjacent to the bridge. Exit the parking lot and turn right and head toward the stop sign.
 

2. Turn right at the stop sign and head northwest toward the historic Layton tunnel & bridge and continue on Layton Road.

Buffalo Bill’s House will be directly in front of you once you cross over the railroad tracks and around the bend on Layton Rd.

PLEASE USE EXTREME CAUTION when you turn right onto Layton Road. The 1- lane tunnel and bridge are active with vehicles. *Please note: The historic Layton tunnel & bridge is slated to turn into a biking/walking only tunnel & bridge by 2025 after the new 2-lane bridge for vehicles is constructed next to it.
