Buffalo Bill’s House offers a rare opportunity for on-location filming at a prominent property featured in an Academy Award winning feature film. This three-story Queen Anne Victorian located in Perryopolis, about 30 miles outside of Pittsburgh, was the home of cinematic serial killer “Buffalo Bill” in the film “The Silence of the Lambs” and is situated on two acres of level land along the Youghiogheny River.
Original hardwood floors, woodwork, pocket doors and fireplaces are in pristine condition, dating back to 1910 when the home was built. With over 2300 square feet of quaint space throughout the home, there is perfect location for your scene around every corner! Once the Layton General Store & Post Office, the oversized three car detached garage has endless filming possibilities..as does the vintage train caboose that sits next to the in-ground pool.
Other filming highlights include the wraparound lemonade front porch, custom built gazebo, the fully functional train tracks opposite the Youghiogheny River, and a secluded pond that border’s the property. View gallery here.
The home and its surrounding area is no stranger to well noted film productions. The historic Layton Tunnel and Bridge connects Layton to Buffalo Bill’s House (in Perryopolis, PA). High profile shoots include “Fire in the Hole”, the pilot episode of FX Network’s television series “Justified” (starring Timothy Olyphant & Walter Goggins), and was notably featured in “The Silence of the Lambs.” Most recently, “Sweet Girl”, a Netflix produced feature thriller (starring Jason Mamoa & Marisa Tomei), was filmed here as well. It is slated for a worldwide release in 2021.
Whether you are shooting a feature film, short, television, music video, web content, or a still based photography shoot, Buffalo Bill’s House is able to accommodate your requests!
